Michael Kaan
(He/Him/His)
Meet Michael, with over 25 years of dedicated experience in the mental health field, Michael has established himself as a prominent figure in adolescent and adult mental health, specializing in sex therapy, and addressing sexual dysfunctions and gender identity concerns. He also has extensive experience in mood and anxiety disorders in both adults and adolescents. His compassionate approach, combined with an extensive background in workplace mental health, empowers individuals and organizations to achieve psychological well-being.
Michael:
Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. My journey in the field of mental health began back in 1998, and ever since, I’ve been deeply committed to supporting individuals on their unique paths to healing and growth. At MindSpa, I believe in the power of personalized therapy, and I work collaboratively with each client to create a welcoming space that caters to your individual needs.
Throughout my career, I’ve focused on supporting adults and adolescents, survivors of trauma, and people affected by mood disorders, especially depression and chronic depression. I’ve been a therapist, a program designer and director, and a consultant to organizations, but my greatest interest is in providing therapy.
I hold a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Manitoba and a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Winnipeg. I’m continually pursuing professional development to ensure I provide the best possible support for my clients. My further postgraduate studies in sex therapy and sexuality grew out of an interest in a subject that remains misunderstood, despite the enormous role it plays in our lives and the many social changes in our views on the subject.
I’m also humbled to have received a Ministerial Commendation from Veterans Affairs Canada for my work with veterans, which has deepened my commitment to integrity, respect, and making meaningful contributions to the lives of those I serve. If you’re looking for a caring guide on your journey toward a brighter, healthier future, I would be honored to accompany you. Remember, you don’t have to face this alone—we can explore these paths together.

Meet Melissa: Registered Psychotherapist & Art Therapist
Are you looking for a compassionate and creative approach to therapy? As a Registered Psychotherapist and Art Therapist, I specialize in guiding individuals through their emotional and psychological challenges using the powerful tool of art therapy. With 3.5 years of experience in the field, I am dedicated to helping you heal, grow, and discover new paths toward well-being through artistic expression and talk therapy.
I hold a Master’s in Creative Arts Therapies with a concentration in Art Therapy from Concordia University and am a registered professional art therapist through the Canadian Art Therapy Association. My approach is warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental, ensuring a safe and supportive space for you to explore your inner world. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, or grief, I work collaboratively with you to find the tools and support you need to move forward.
Art Therapy for Emotional Healing
Art therapy is an innovative and expressive way to explore your thoughts and emotions. You don’t need any prior art experience to benefit from it. Art offers a unique way to tap into emotions that may be hard to express with words, allowing for deep healing and self-discovery. Alongside traditional talk therapy, I use a blend of psychodynamic, person-centered, compassion-focused, and strength-based approaches to help you develop coping skills, self-awareness, and resilience.
I have worked with clients facing a variety of challenges, including ADHD, anxiety, depression, burnout, racial trauma, grief, loss, relationship dynamics, self-esteem, chronic pain, trauma, and suicidal ideation. My approach is trauma-informed and culturally sensitive, and I use an intersectional and anti-oppressive lens in every session, ensuring that your unique experiences and needs are respected and understood.
Your Journey, Your Healing
I believe in the healing power of art and the therapeutic relationship. Whether you choose to engage in art therapy or prefer traditional therapy methods, my goal is to create a collaborative and trusting environment where you feel empowered to express yourself, explore underlying issues, and develop meaningful coping strategies.
I welcome clients of all ages and backgrounds, and prior artistic experience is not necessary. If you’re looking for an online therapist who offers art therapy alongside talk therapy, I’d love to explore how I can support your healing journey. Let’s connect to see if we’re the right fit for you!
Start your therapy journey today with a unique blend of art therapy and psychotherapy—designed to help you heal, grow, and thrive.
